gfx card and motherboard cooling(and random stuff) help :P

Just wondering if there are any other ways of cooling the motherboard apart from slapping heatsink on the north and south bridge(asus dont support that on warranty >.<). Are there heatsinks that slap on it or perhaps fans?, are the ram coolers (like the dominator) any good and worth it?.
Saw this http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=787762 are these any good and can some one care to explain how these work?(im a noob sorry ).
Also there is a similar one for a gfx card( http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=679615 ) some1 care to explain how this works too? does it just slap onto the back of the pcb and would it void my bfg warranty?.

Lastly, need a new mouse mat, any1 use this one http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=444815 and is it good?

    Thanks guys

Only other way of cooling nb/sb is water, bit extreme for the average person tbh. The RAM coolers dont do too much, only used for extreme air overclocks

The first cooler, cools the rear of the cpu socket aswell as your normal heatsink cooling the normal side, helps to reduce temps. This is the only one i'd say worked and was worth it. But check your room in the case first!

Not sure on the VGA cooler, and how it mounts, but probably same as above

Mouse mat is good for the money.

    It's 4.98*

Re: gfx card and motherboard cooling(and random stuff) help :P

GPU coolers screw from the rear, so the mountings would pass through the cooler to hold it in place. another way is to mount an 80mm fan on offsets to get better results at cooling the card, its a ghetto mod that really works.

i did have the ifx-14 on my cpu, that comes with that cpu backside cooler, it does work as it did get warm.

thermalright do nb/sb coolers as well that are ok if your not going mental on overclocking, i just redid my mobo and cpu with water tho, nb/sb & 2 mofset coolers with a pa160 and the CPU and both 8800gtx's with a pa 120.3

    nice and cool now

would do that but asus said it voids warranty and since im not doing overclocking i dont need to go over the top, just want to try my best and increase its life time.

actually they posted on the asus vip forum saying that it doesnt invalidate your warranty changing coolers as your not messing with the design of the baord.

that and the fact you have to put it all back together to rma it anyway so who would know

most of the gloop stays on the bits u take off

Re: gfx card and motherboard cooling(and random stuff) help :P

did ask asus when i was trying to get them to sort out the static i got from my onboard(never helped me, i found out that pc beep was on for some reason xD) and they said it did. Is it easy to shove one on? cos the black plastic pins seem a bit odd . Now that you mention it, any recommendations on a good price NB cooler?

edit: just had a wierd idea but would some how mounting another heatsink onto the current one help in anyway? currently the heatsink on thr NB gets pretty hot so if i could shove another metal heatsink ontop it could take it away?.

    http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_pa...et_cooler.html

decide whats going to fit, standard or sli, then decide what you think looks best.

if you go for the ifx-14 with backside cooler then the obvious choice would be the ifx versions so they all look the same

they would work well without fans, but are ment to be excellent with 80mm slow fans on them
