Re: New System: Final Build - 25/06/08
Glad I saw this thread! Just bought me a Cosmos S as well... was quite tempted by it over the P182 due to being able to watercool without modding, but £175 was just too much, £145 was much more justifiable! excellent :)
Now I just need to fill it with stuff, woohoo! I wonder if I should just jump straight into watercooling...

Re: New System: Final Build - 25/06/08
Lol, I am upgrading from something fairly similar to something fairly similar (although i think I am spending a bit less than you).
We'll have to compare notes but this is my list (sorry for hijack, i do have a thread going for mine too, but just for comparison)
Coolermaster CM 690 (bugger to find) £65
Corsair 620 W HX PSU £83
4gb Corsair 4-4-4-12 £70
Q6600 £125
Scythe Ninja Copper Special Edition £43
Asus P5Q Deluxe (p45) £122
Sapphire HD4870 £180
2x samsung f1 320gb single platter drives for raid 0 £81
Windows Vista 64 home premium £60
Sony dvd drive. £17
Re: New System: Final Build - 25/06/08
I've just built mine with the advice from guys on here. The system is running very smooth, very very quiet considering the parts. I went for a Scythe Ninja cooler and bought a 800rpm 120mm fan, extremely quiet and v good cooling. I went for the Cosmos over the Cosmos S due to the sound proofing, both are very nice, I'm over the moon with mine. The case is very heavy, the 'S' might be lighter though...
I'm sure you'll be lol'ing for a long time when its built, I still am! :D

We seem to be in the same position & our upgrades too. I think we both are going to discover a whole new world with our new systems. Let us know how you get on with your build.

Dam James you have the mother of call cards the GTX 280 - awesome. If only the GTX 280 was around the £250 -300 mark i would have snapped it up but i could not resist the Radeon 4870 price/perfomance. If all goes well i will have this PC for about 4+ years. I got tried of playing the latest games on my old rig. At least my old rig lasted me for about 5 years with one or 2 upgraded parts.

Same here, still don't know what I want to do with my old rig. Could keep it as a network storage or something but then again it's not as though I have to store that many files anyway. Shame to let it waste away! P4 2.4, 1GB DDR, Radeon x1950 Pro, has given me many memories! Enjoy your new rig and let us know how it all goes, it should last you at LEAST 4 years. It does make more sense to go for the price/performance route, but I saved up the money to spend on a new rig - so that's what I did haha :D
