    2500/nf7-s new build help needed

So far so good, well at least it works but I do have a couple of problems. At the moment I dont seem to have any sound, I have looked at the manual and in the bios and I cant find anywhere to enable/disable it if that is the problem. Any clues? Also when I came back out of the bios it wouldn't boot saying the cpu has been changed/damaged and now in the soft menu I only have user define or 3200 as choices, 2500 seems to have disapeared and it wont boot up as a 3200 which is what the bios seemed to have changed it to. I am now back on user define at 210 x 11. Any insights into why this happened?

I've upp'ed a little information on the Abit NF7-S that might just help you. It sounds like you have an early bios ( maybe 16 ) that saw the 2500+ as a 3200+ with no options for 2500+ speeds.

Thanks I think it is 16 although it detected it as 2500 in the first instance (quite a few times as I was in and out of the bios upping the fsb) Should I be looking to update the bios to the latest (22 I think)?

yeap 22 is fine as long as you don't use a SATA RAID array. just make sure its the right bios if you manually download it or just use the abit flashmenu in step by step mode

Hopefully that will get your 2500+ settings back lol its mad I remembered bios 16 was the 1 I got on my 1st board and ran my 2500+ @ 3200 with no worries.

Other than that, I wish you luck and hope its all sorted soon

I dont seem to have anything in the bios that specifically sais that but there is an "audio controller" which is enabled. The only sound I can get out is from the front of case headset jack plug and even then only one side or the other tho it changes from one to the other as I slide the jack plug in!

It is either front output enabled or rear output - you can't have both.
I would check your headers/jumpers are correctly configured.

I have had a lot of trouble trying to make sure the headers are connected right, they are all single pin and dont quite seem to correlate exactly as per the manual, also there is a jumper just below the main atx connector that I can find no refference to, but without knowing what it is I haven't had the bottle to remove it! any help would be gteatly apreciated.

The latest version of the manual (available from ABIT website) should have all jumpers documented now (incl. previously undocumented ones).

Buff..... downloaded it last night but no mention of them in the manual. I'm suprised if you cant use the headset socket on the front panel without changeing the headers!

Savalas.... I dont know as I'm not useing sata but try www.abit-usa.com

    These the undocumented jumpers?
    http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread...light=keyboard

They are shown in the latest rev. of the manual
    ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/download/m...nglish/nf7.pdf

It is either rear output or front output only.

savalas, going by forum reports if you had an existing array it wouldn't work with the new SATA BIOS in d21 & d22. A new array setup with it will work though.

Yup those jumpers! I downloaded the manual from the usa site and it was exactly the same as mine except with colour! by the looks of that link its from the taiwan site, I will check that out when I've got a mo. I didn't dibelieve you re the front or back outlet, I just am suprised, being able to plug in a headset, and cut out the speakers, seams an obvious advantage! Thanks very much for takeing the time to enlighten "another n00b"
