I'd say you'd be lucky to get £20, Hiper have a fairly poor reputation for quality.

Re: Price check ? Hiper Type R 580W

Does it come with a receipt, and does it still have warranty?

I would say about £30 to £35 inc P&P. You might get a bit less as some people are not fond of hiper on these forums. Personally I have no experience with them, so cant say how good they are as psu's.

Very much doubt its still in warranty, never had a problem with it though its a cracking PSU i don't know why people " hate em " so to speak.

For £20 il keep onto it and keep it for a spare.

    Cheers anyway guys.

And just for the record, the plugs on this hiper are of far superior quality to that on my corsair hx520w.

I don't doubt it, but Hiper's do have a reputation for going pop. I thought it was just people slating the brand until mine did exactly that. (I also have an HX520 now ).

I suppose a few black sheep would kill the reputation of the flock, i might just hang onto it then ( its not going to be popping anytime soon, its sat in its box lol )

Yes I know they are better quality. Why Corsair makes those nasty cables and forgets to braid them I don't know. But then again you can always braid them yourself

I quite like the flat cables on my hx520, its just the connectors dont seem as " good ". Not a clicky feel to them and as for the pci-e cable fitting in my gainward 8800gt...try again, it fits but doesnt click, just don't knock my desk or the cable will be out lol

Nope, the connection at the psu end is completely different.

it's an issue with the 8800gt if i remember right not the connector.

not sure if I had that issue on mine (hx520w + bfg 8800gt).

Re: Price check ? Hiper Type R 580W

IIRC the early units (Hiper) were of superior quality.

Also a tendency to pop early indicates that the MTBF is low. Some may still last many years - especially if they are not subject to heavy 24/7 usage. And yes the cables are nice, and so is that "toolbox" thingy. But neither is any substitute for quality inside the box.

I'd never buy Hiper again, unless they were bought by someone like Seasonic.
