HDCP is all about decoding blu-ray and HD DVD as long as the graphics card and monitor support it I don't think the board will matter, in fact can a motherboard without on board graphics even be HDCP compatible? Any way unless you are planing on playing blu-ray or hd dvd discs it really isn't an issue.
I think that is for motherboards with internal graphics, as the P5Q series have no internal GPU, then they would not have HDCP on them

After looking around i think i now prefer the coolermaster CM690 as its abit smaller and doesn't have a side window which im not a massive fan of.

One thing i saw the cm690 had a eSata port, but no internal esata on the motherboard ?
Also I've read quite a bit about the 4850 getting hot, should i go for another from the sapphire with better cooling?
Also I've some problems with power in the past, is 550w really enough ?

550W is a lot these days tbh, power draw is generally on the way down and effiency is on the up so it works out that you actually need less than 300W from wall for a system like yours.

I'd go with the HX corsair because of the modular cables and possibly the 640GB AAKS but it will be very nice none the less. Are you getting an aftermarket CPU cooler?
Gfx temps wise I'd say it was fine, it Idle's high but then tops out not much higher so shouldn't be anything to worry about. They'll be after market coolers for them later that way you can pick the best one for you.

My overclocked E6550 (3.5Ghz) 3870 (see my system for the rest) when running under full load draws 210W from the wall assuming 85% efficiency in the PSU you are looking at ~180W draw from the PSU so yeah 550W will me more than enough, don't worry!
Yes it was quite a while ago i bought the psu's, i might go upto the HX then if its worth the £10!
Do you think its worth while buying a different cpu cooler from the stock one ?
If you want to overclock or don't want the annoy humming sounds the stock one makes yeah.
£23 gets you the scythe mine or the xigmatec tower cooler which are both awesome coolers and both come with near silent fans

to be 50p more expensive than my current WD choice, with a bigger cache would this not be a better choice?

If I was to get a different CPU Cooler, does it require that thermal paste when attaching to the cpu?
Some come pre-applied like the Arctic 7 Freezer Pro others like the mine come with some but not that I would use, so yeah something like Artic Silver 5 or MX-2 would be required.
Yeah so that would £30 overall, something I would need if I was planning to overclock from 2.4ghz towards 3ghz, Is there a noticable performance increase in doing that?
I guess it depends if you do anything that requires it. Stuff like video encoding works better, games do but not noticably imo.

Pretty much got it's little brother here. Great for movies and games. The newer panels have pretty nice colour reproduction as well so it should be good all round
