    Smile Looking for a Laptop

    Hey everyone,

Im not that up to speed on the laptop scene, and Im looking for the best lappy for about £400-500. Will be used mostly for uni work, but could include some heavy usage such as virtual machines etc (doing BSc Computer science, will probably dual boot with linux ), want somthing that will be reliable, responsive and most of a comfortable and nice to use. If it can run some of the older games that would also be fantastic, however dont want to sacrifice battery life for direct x 10 gaming or anything like that!

Dont know what the mobile cpus are like, but im thinking 2gb ram would be great, not to large a laptop either, preferable 15.4 inch (ish) 17" is too big, Dont want to carry around a desktop, but on the other hand dont want to be squinting at an eeepc style machine. Would like a widescreen model, and as much HD space as possible. I was looking at some of the asus' for £400-500, and they look ok, but nothings jumped right out at me yet.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Regards
    Wills

Dell are my manafacturer of choice, great laptops, fair prices and awesome warranties

Get quite a bit for you money with vostro 1510 and 1310, sacrificing a bit of the nice for more of the rugged.

    Re: Looking for a Laptop

I saw that a little while ago. Great spec and they have discontinued them so I guess it's only while stocks last

Gets varying reviews.. I like it but I'd take the dell if it were my money.
