Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
Hi guys. I've just RMA'd the above to Scan but it's an end of life product so I cant have a replacement.
What I would like ideally is a board with the same chipset so I don't have to mess about rebuilding my machine which would be a major pain.
Cost upto say £135
Plan to order later tonight :-)
Cheers

What about the Abit IP35 Pro XE from scan at about £105:D saving you a bit of money.

New P45 deluxe

Although I'd probably save the money and get a PRO.
Maybe an X38..
Re: Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
Thanks guys. What do you reckon the chances are of sticking an p45 board in and getting away without a rebuild.
It took me a full week to build the machine with the now defunct P5kC.
I dont fancy doing it again so soon .....
Re: Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
You might need to repair windows if you have that installed. Should be pretty painless though.
Re: Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
I've got away with just booting into safe mode before and binning everything from device manager and letting it re discover it all.
Also had machine just refuse to boot after a moboard change.
The p45 looks like a decent board but I'm running an 8800gt so dont really need crossfire.
What are nividia chipsets like now ?
Re: Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
Not great really, over priced, under performing etc.. lol
I wouldn't be looking at crossfire or SLi, just stick with a decent single card on a decent chipset like P45 :)
Re: Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
Thanks Mike. Yeah not bothered about 2 vid card solutions. I'm only running at 1280x1024 anyway.
I've had Asus boards for the past 3 years but had Abit before that. Abit went off a little with poor caps etc.
Have they had an upturn ?
Re: Motherboard to replace Asus P5KC
I would say so. The IP-35 boards have been fantastic and the P45's are set to be the same, not quite out yet though. The Abit X38 isn't suppsosed to be too bad but it's only really offering features you dont need like crossfire.
