    Replacing Northbridge fan on K8n-dl.

Ok so here is my problem. the fan on the northbridge of my K8n-dl is a whiny POS and need to be replaces but there is a problem. the desinger was a sadistic bar stewerd and place it in the absolut worst place3 to put a whiney little fan. ie just behinf the pci-e 16x slot See picture. so i wanted to know if there are replacements that would allow me to put something different on there. The card i currently use is a 8800 gt and that could soon be replaced with a 4870x2. please oh please help me. everything else makes very little noise.

Something like this Thermalright HR-05 (http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=679609) may work as the fins are moved out of the way of the pci-e slot.

I believe you can also attach a fan to it (either with clips, or cable ties), though you may not need one at all, as these do a good job of cooling.

    Hope this helps.

Thermalright HR-05 would be great if it'll fit, as due to it's design it's not going straight up and smacking your graphics card. Other than that, I'd suggest maybe something like a Akasa low profile 40mm self-sticking (no screws) heatsink - it's cheap and basically you just stick it to the chipset.

first glance at the board...where the northbridge? lol

well yeah the thermalright should do the job and will probably be a lot better than the akasa fan (small fan make big noise) but you should check that it has the correct fitting and the distance the fins are from the pcie slot (probably a note to take in is that the 4850x2 wil probably have a dual slotcooling fan thing)
