    3 Pin Fan Splitter

I want to plug a front 60mm fan into my G33 motherboard but only have one 3 pin chassis fan connector, is it ok to use a 3pin Y splitter to run a 90mm & 62mm chassis fan from the one socket, could it overload the controller?

One fan is a stock dell the other is a budget one

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/63282

It has molex as another option

    Re: 3 Pin Fan Splitter

If they are two normal fans, it'll be fine (although you do always take a risk, don't get me wrong).

The important thing here is how many amp's(the current) they are drawing. Considering I've seen Delta fans that can draw several times the amount of amp's a normal fan does and still run fine, I can't see an issue here (I''ve done it loads of times without issue)

I love this board, just any random question and you can get decent feedback quickly.

Having guys like you and staffsMike around is great!

Earlier today HSK took time out to check his mobo BIOS just to help me out with another question.

    GREAT FORUM !

You can normally get a 3Pin fan connector to molex connector. This is what I tend to do as you said, reduces the risk of too much draw and the socket.

    Re: 3 Pin Fan Splitter

Connected the fan to molex power last night, sounds like theres a hairdryer in my case!

I think I'll either disconnect it totally or go back to plugging it in the mobo, it doesn't seem to have brought the temps down noticably, and isn't really anymore space for a bigger diameter fan.

    Re: 3 Pin Fan Splitter

Yeah, its a 3pin splitter or nothing scenario

Put a new Corsair VX450 in the Dell just last night so I would like the machine to be quieter not louder. Hopefully the PSU's larger fan should do a bit of extra cooling too.

    Thanks all
