    Question 15.4" or 17" lappy?

grr this is really annoying me in a silly way I just can't decide...
    options are a 15.4" c2d 2.2ghz 4gb ram 8600M GT 250gb hdd bluetooth wifi 8in1 carder reader @ 1680x1050...

    OR

    15.4" c2d 2ghz 4gb ram 8600M GT 2x120gb hdd's wifi 8in1 carder reader @ 1920x1200...

I'm used to a 15.4" @ 1280x800 which was ok but not really what i wanted as I was a major 1600x1200 whore on my 19" dell crt that died 6months ago...

so I'm thinking how much bigger is the 17" for the 15.4"??? is it thicker/deeper? how crap will the battery be compared to the 15.4" having 2 hdd's...

is it true higher res = more battery sounds abit bs to me tbh...

is the 1680x1050 res on the 15.4" that much of a gap res wise from the 17"'s 1920x1200 or is there not much in it and would I just be wasting portability and weight for a slightly bigger screen with a res not that sleek when compared to having the 1680x1050 crammed into a 15.4" screen seeing as I've had a 1280x800 15.4" previously?

I don't really care that I loose bluetooth as I don't really loose it.

there's a tenner difference in price so that doesn't matter here...
is 200mhz going to make that much difference and for a tenner and a smaller screen/res worth it?

will the 15.4" last longer having a smaller res (hmm) and screen and only one hdd?

I just really don't know if I want to sacrafise abit of portability and loose 200mhz for a bigger screen.

    welllll annoying lol help

Good riddance. Wish I'd done it about a year ago.

I don't like 17" laptops. It will be bigger in every dimension and a pain to takea round with you. 15.4" is the biggest you should really go imo. 1680 x 1050 is a bit tight on 15.4" I personally didnt get along with it, but with vista and it's scaling it should be ok

8600GT will suck at both of those resolutions but the 15.4" will be the lesser of two evils.

    bit tight?elaborate
suck? its best bang for buck card unless spending silllly money.better than a 128mb 8400 gs lol. 1440x900 be better in comparison to 16x12 on my old 19" crt?

oh and if i have a 17" i could eventualy get 2x500gb hdd's as its going to be my main rig...

    Re: 15.4" or 17" lappy?

bit tight was probably a bit wrong but might describe my eyes squinting trying to read off it Obviously everything is really sharp just very very small. Its a big resolution to cram into such a tiny screen and I've never been a fan of it.

In all fairness that was XP though and with vista it does work with the text and icon scaling

How often will you be lugging it around? 17" lappys are ok for taking from the car to the office etc.. but if you are walking round all day, hopping trains etc.. it becomes frigging annoying. My dad has one for work and he ended up getting a 12" xps for going on site as the 17" was just too much of an inconvenience.
