New Computer Rig
Hi Guys,
I am planning to build a new computer. not for gaming or anything and i don't plan to spend much. if possible could anyone help suggest a) cheaper components and b) similar performance.
my primary purpose will be to watch movies, surf the internet, download torrents, listening to music. not gaming though. i know i put the 8800 on there. but not too sure which would be ok, chances are i wont get that. I want the rig to be as cheap as possible.
Components

Re: New Computer Rig
CPU - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=807038 ~£50
mobo - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=845045 ~£50
HDD - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=567855 ~£35
RAM - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=402849 ~ £35
PSU - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=644038 ~ £45
Total around £215 but everything is on today only at a cheaper price I think.
no need for the graphics card with that IGP (plays games at low res and can do blu ray etc..), thats a better PSU, no need to overclock and it'll be incredibly low power and effecient.
Stick a nice HSF on it in a half decent case with low rpm fans and you've got a near enough silent pc there to.

Re: New Computer Rig
i dont like AMD and kinda want DVI connection. hehe hi mike again :)

Re: New Computer Rig
it has DVI and HDMI (as well as VGA)
What's wrong with AMD? lol They've been good to us over the years.
No Intel IGP can match that and a dedicated card on the intel boards is costing you more money for the same overall effect.

Re: New Computer Rig
but as i am making a cheap computer i may just get a cheap one. any suggestions? i kinda want separate not onboard connections.

Re: New Computer Rig
ATi HD3450 (*cough* exactly the same as the IGP on the 780G *cough cough*) :p
£25 ish.

Re: New Computer Rig
the one that i originally put up is 213 without the GFX card which is kinda reasonable.

Re: New Computer Rig
haha, i dont like ATi either i like intel and nvidia combos :P

Re: New Computer Rig
Yeah that's fair enough, the AMD solution just makes a nice and neat package overall and don't buy a hiper PSU whatever you do.
I run a similar AMD setup to this and it's great. Fits in the lovely silverstone TJ-08 and stays almost silent.. lovely. It can do everything as well as my E6600 as well :)
Each to their own though.
