Help: PCI Firewire Card Won't Configure itself In Network Connections

Basically I installed a new Firewire PCI card into my siblings PC, it seems to have installed. Under Device Manager, the card is classed as a 1394 Net Adapter under Network Adapters and is exclamated as being 'unstartable' as 'in the device cannot start', code error 10. Now looking at the Network Connections, there is only an indication of the Ethernet connection and no 1394 connection as it should do like in my other PC with a firewire PCI card. So does anyone have any idea of what might be wrong, I've done a fresh install to no avail.

Finally, I HAVE also changed the card from one PCI slot to another to see if it might be conflicting, the problem remains.

for the sake of my sanity... and hair.

    THANKS.

Edit: Under the 1394 Net Adapter properties tab, the Device Instance ID is V1394\NIC1394\00000000. Would this be of any use to anyone, it seems wrong with all those 0's.

MODS, my apologies, it seems to me that I may have posted in the wrong sub-forum, this should have perhaps been posted in the Technical & Advisory segment under OS & Apps sub-forum. Please amend if that is so, THANKS!
