    Antec P182 fans utter ****

Ok, this is annoying now: The first of the 3 120mm fans on my P182 started making annoying noises and looking at it you could see it wasn't going at the proper RPM (on the low setting it was going in bursts at very low rpm). So I removed it, funnily enough my components are now cooler with only one extraction and one intake fan (the one that died was the top one).

Now i've got a second one starting to make strange noises. Anyone else had troubles with the fans that come installed in this case?

    Out of warranty?

Yeah I mean different people have different levels of "silent" but they are certainly amongst the best

It depends on how loud your PC is, I've needed to put them at 7 volts instead of 12 and put it on the low setting, otherwise they are far too loud.

    you see

Mine is otherwise passive with a corsair HX running it and they are good enough for me but others don't like them

Mine is completely passive too with a HX620W Corsair, but even on low they really do make quite a bit of noise. I've got my Samsung HD suspended too.

Do you have that bottom fan running next to the PSU? Mine doesn't turn round, not sure if I've connected it, but does it matter?

Also, does the P182 come with a snake light as I can't seem to find it, it has one on the reviews?

Re: Antec P182 fans utter ****

No i think its the P190 that has the snake light or the P182 SE not the P182 anyway.

I do have the bottom fan running just to pull some air from the HDD's and give the PSU a bit of fresh air

Some people say the PSU gives enough draft for the HDD's but with the corsair's fan spinning so slow I don't like to trust just in that.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks the Antec fans aren't quiet at low setting. I replaced all the ones in my P182.

The Samsung HD I use is in a Scythe QuietBox and the PSU chamber fan is a NorthQ Ceramic Bearing fan. This is the quietest fan at 12v that I've used. Slight undervolt and it's very very quiet.

As StaffsMike has advised, the light only comes with the SE verions.

Re: Antec P182 fans utter ****

2 fans in my P182 started making incredibly annoying repeating clicking noises after just a couple of weeks since purchase last summer. Fair play to Antec, they sent two replacements out completely free of charge. Unfortunately, 1 of them developed the same clicking fault. I ended up just leaving it off (it's the one on the top). The other one is completely fine. It is an issue which I have seen reported elsewhere, for example:

    http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?t=7060

One day I'll get round to replacing the duff fan with a new, non-Antec one.
