just got my replacement PSU from scan today and it has the exact same fault as the last one. they both buzz even when off.
am going to send it back and get a different one this time, can someone suggest alternatives to a 525W enermax modu 82+?

are you sure that it's not exactly the same PSU?
and as for alternatives...
corsair HX520w or HX620w?

but to re-iterate the PSU's i would reccomend are the corsairs and the enermax's...

well the corsairs have had longer to do the rounds and become reccomended, the enermaxs are still fairly new in many peoples eyes and lots of people do reccomend them but lots also hold back because they are new. but generally atm i would say Corsair = Enermax but very soon (in my eyes) it will be a case of enermax > corsair

I don't have a problem recommend the new enermax based on their reviews, but based on my own expereince and I can only recommend FSP for budget and corsair/seasonic for quality.
I wouldn't buy an enermax for any of my builds as yet, for reasons that TAK TAK mentioned, they are too new to get a full picture of their quality and problems people may face with them. Even if they did prove as good over time, I would still feel compelled to stick with the manafacturer that hasn't let me down yet, which is seasonic (who make the corsairs :))
The Corsair HX still represents good value for money and fantastic quality. People can moan about the flat cables all they like, but there is no obvious draw back in operational quality with them, and I find them much better for cable management especially with a cable management system like the coolermaster CM690 and antec P182 feature.
All manufacturers make different products; just because one model they make is spectacular it doesn't mean everything they make follows suit. In the 500W/600W range I can heartily recommend Seasonic M or S12 range. Quiet and efficient :) Have a google search for jonnyguru who offers good advise on PSU's ;)
