Re: I built a BEAST PC and I need your opinion

I could be wrong but I don't think anyone on this forum has quite such a beasty PC...

Personally I think something that mad would be a total waste of money. On the other hand, if you have the money to waste then it's one hell of a machine.

    lol
    That's overkill!

Seriously, why not go straight away for Tri-SLI GTX280 ;P

If you have the money for that, bother to give me some extra cash for my new build =p I need a little more to get 4 GB of RAM and a diff Motherboard, also thinking of getting a Quad core instead of Dual!

Anyhow, that's one heck of a machine lol

I don't have a beast (currently), but my opinion:

I think this is a bad platform choice personally - it did it's job to prove an engineering point but it has numerous downsides. If you're after uber top end you need a chipset that can do triple SLI or Quad-Xfire, this can't do either.
    CPU 1 Intel Core™2 Extreme QX9775, S 771, 3.2 GHz, 1600MHz
    CPU 2 Intel Core™2 Extreme QX9775, S 771, 3.2 GHz, 1600MHz
Good choice if you need it now, Bloomfield based will take the top end performance quite easily soon though.

    HDD1 64GB Samsung MCBQE64GBMPP-03A Solid State HDD SATA I
    HDD2 64GB Samsung MCBQE64GBMPP-03A Solid State HDD SATA I
    HDD3 64GB Samsung MCBQE64GBMPP-03A Solid State HDD SATA I
HDD4 300 GB Western Digital WD3000GLFS VelociRaptor, SATA
Poor choice IMHO - there are faster solid state discs around - either the top end from MTRON for ultimate performance, or newer ones from the likes of OCZ which are still faster and cheaper.

Sound Card Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro
The new Asus cards are better IMO.

Re: I built a BEAST PC and I need your opinion

This looks like it could be something like a Vadim custom spec pc - build saver, premium cable management etc. - in which case due to their liquidation, it ain't going to happen.

edit: Of course it's not likely someone would just hop on their site, spec the bottom off something, register here and post it just for giggles, is it?

So, someone posts the above with their first post, and very little info about themselves.
And that setup- is going to cost....what....around £5k, a little higher?

Riiiiiight.... of course you have built all that.
And i live in a gumdrop house on Lollipop lane.

Re: I built a BEAST PC and I need your opinion

hey pollaxe - did you google their name too? i did.. they registered on vadim computers on 7-july, not posted anything yet - hardly surprising since the forums have closed..

anyways.. sephir12 - i challenge you to a crysis deathmatch.. your PC versus mine - for those of you who can't click 'my system' its:--

    athlon xp 2500+ barton..
as yet unknown socket-a nforce 2 mobo.
250gb hitachi ata133 with a dodgy motor (long access/spin up time)
sapphire ATI Radeon 9500 - not melted yet, but i'm not trying hard enough..
    768mb ddr2700 ram.. CAS 2.5 - ooh speedy..
cooling - 12" desk fan and an open window with breeze through the house when the back doors open..
you stick to your 54mbs wifi LAN.. i'll stick with my 1gbs lan..

when would you like a match? I'm free all week..

^I didn't, I just thought I recognised a couple of Vadim-style descriptions in the blurb (I own a Vadim system, a treat for myself a few years ago.)

My money's on you Stevie, at least your system exists!!

Re: I built a BEAST PC and I need your opinion

yeah but sephir's PC is likely to last longer in their imagination than mine will in real life, so they might actually win ..

(if i could remember photobucket login - the crysis benhcmark i printscreened will be posted in all its glory of 15fps in low detail! woo!!)

oh well.. of to try that unreal demo I downloaded.. and see if it joins in TAKTAK's fragfest gaming sessions..
