I would be massivley grateful if you have any essential changes to suggest that either
---- A) Improve Performance without increasing price *too much :P*
or
-----B) Lower price with no loss of performance

looks perfect to me, but i wouldn't get a Blu-ray drive myself... (but thats personal preference)
not my taste in case (i prefer Lian Li's, but they are quite expensive)
prehaps a better keyboard?

Bluray - I dont have a PS3, and with the graphics card linking up to my 32" TV or my montior it should allow me to watch some pretty sweet HD-ness :) Unless im missing something...
Case - Nor mine tbh, but I wont be looking at it :P It is apparently more practical which is what I need atm :)
Keyboard - Definatley, I used to use a cherry keybaord when I was at the LAN Centres a few years ago and want to consult the old owner about those before I buy one, they felt immensley better than Zboards and i'm not keen on splashing out on a wireless as I dont really like them :( In the meantime however, a cheap and cheerful Logitech should see me through :)
On the topic of keyboard aswell, what does everyone else use if they have one to reccomend?

Why SP1 disc separately? The vista you have selected comes with SP1 already...
I would look at x38 motherboards now... P35 is very old, it still good, but I would only use it for budget builds...
640gb hard drives only cost a few quid more and are faster...
make sure you check today only and shop offers before you order... (ram is £53.46 on shop offers, there are 2 different 4850s for £115 on today only)
Re: Here's My New Buils - £878 - Comments please ;)
Be quick on the today only, its going to change any minute now

Motherboards - I understand the iP35 is old, but is there anything for a similar price that you would reccommend thats better all round and can still handle an overclock?
Hard Drive - I couldn't find a 640GB hard-drive thats faster :| Got a link?
Shop Offers - Cheers for the tips :) Thanks mate ;)
BTW/ I'm not buying immediatley, I'm buying *probably* next friday after I do a car boot sale this week for deposit :) Hehe

I guess the software that comes with the drive does play back Blu-Ray, but I'd be careful.
You've always needed the "ultra" version of PowerDVD for HD playback. And I believe the latest version 8 of PowerDVD Ultra no longer supports HD-DVD.

Rated access times are pretty much always BS, as proven here;
500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 review
The Western Digital AAKS range are my drives of choice at the moment, they're speedy yet as good as silent.

How about this motherboard:

To save £20 odd.
I'll be honest i'm not saying it is as good, but it's a choice.
In general though the overall list looks good i'd say, will be a killer system
Re: Here's My New Buils - £878 - Comments please ;)
I would get the Antec 300 over that case, It's £10 more but the cooling will be a lot better. Otherwise looks very nice.
MSIC's board suggestion isn't a bad idea either, you will still quite easily get to a 3.2 -3.4GHz overclock I'm sure.

Knocked off the Icybox, and through todays offers have knocked off over £40 and got Nero and Skype phone free...
I wet myself :)
Ordering as we speak :-)
Re: Here's My New Buils - £878 - Comments please ;)
Go for the MX-2 thermal paste doesn't require burn in as does AS5 and is a few pence cheaper!
Re: Here's My New Buils - £878 - Comments please ;)
Yep looks good, I built a near enough identical build earlier in the week :)
Re: Here's My New Buils - £878 - Comments please ;)
Looks like a gaming rig to me. I'd go for the E7200 and take the Antec Solo instead of your current case choice. For the hard-drive my favourite is the WD640AAKS. Another advice would be a quiet replacement fan for the Xigmatek heatsink, it can be quite noisy. For a couple of extra quid, a AC Accelero S1 rev2 will allow for better graphics card cooling. Strap a slow fan on it and you're on the save side with the new HD4850. You can also drop one notch in the power supply and go with a VX450 or similar.
Re: Here's My New Buils - £878 - Comments please ;)
IIRC his rig is going to be used for studio max, which will make use of the quad core...
and case choice is always going to be a bit of a grey area as it's all down to personal preference, as i would pay more and get a lian li or antec 300 if i was budgeting
VX450w doesn't provide much of a headroom for future upgrades, as he was talking of the possibility of SLi'd GFX cards
i would second the 640GB drive as it is a denser platter and is nice and quiet and fast
and the quieter fan could be something for the OP to look in to for the future

Ahh, ok, I didn't read the complete thread. I merely had a close look at the pictures.
Some more comments then:
* The Q9300 might be a better choice than the Q6600. It is overall slightly faster - despite the smaller cache - and easier to cool. The price is very similar.
* For a potential cross-fire system the case is important. There is no way that you can evacuate more than 220W at full load easily from the tiny current choice. You might even have problems with only 110W of a single card. Dependent how noise-resistant you are, this might drive you insane as well.
* My budget power-cooling case recommendation is the Sharkoon Rebel9 (w/o the side fan). Even better would be the Rebel12, where the PSU can be bottom mounted and there's plenty of space.
* For case-fans: you can get Nexus fans with free postage from novatech (or was it Aria?).
