ok cool just downloaded them all ,
k ill start with pc wizard , i no this is a stupid question
but what am i looking for???
oh and if i just leave comp on not doing anything its quite happy
to just sit there if thats any help
its only when i got a few progs running it just switches itself off??
See this pic
Click the button highlighted in yellow, then check all the temperatures that I've highlighted in yellow.
ah ok so here goes
mainboard temp 32
the processers sit at 60 when not used and rise anythign up tp 95 ive seen
and the gpu just sits around 60
and the hdd around 37 ish
so it looks like the processer is getting to hot??
so why only now it would do this??
and any suggestions on how to get the temp down??
Check the temperature against Core Temp first to make sure it's definitely the CPU that is having a heat issue, PC Wizard 2008 might be reading it incorrectly, it's best to get a second opinion from a program like Core Temp. There are likely reasons why it's overheating if it is that, but I'll go into that when we know it's definitely the CPU.
Let me know what Core Temp reads.
Also what CPU do you have?
all 4 cores sit at around 60 when doing nothing
and on pc wizard they read about the same when i try and use a few programs
the temps rise above 90 and also the cpu
Okay then this is probably the problem you are having with shutdowns, it's automatically turning the computer off when the processor's temperatures get too high.
I noticed you built this computer yourself, I'm willing to bet the push-pins on the cooler haven't been pushed in properly around the CPU. It's a really fiddly cooler, and the first time I fitted a Socket 775 cooler I did the same thing - one pin wasn't in properly and it caused the cooler to lift at one end, increasing the temperatures loads.
Take off the cooler, re-apply the thermal paste and reseat the cooler again. Make sure you push the pins in properly and they click when you do each one - also do them diaganolly, such as: top left, then bottom right, then top right, then bottom left.
The only thing I'm concerned about is that you have dump logs, normally if the computer was overheating the computer would just turn off and wouldn't cause a BSOD - but it might be due to overheating I can't be sure, but I would definitely reseat the cooler first before anything else as those temperatures are extremely high.
ah sounds like a plan ok ill turn off and post back later
What CPU cooler is it you're using?
right im back temps are looking lower so it may have been the problem of shutting down gunna try a few programs and get back to ya
im using the stock cooler as my tower is a pain in the next few weeks i think im gunna look into a better tower with cooling any suggestions??
Darkclone (13-07-2008)
cpu temp about 50
and 4 cores round about 44 so deff improvment and thats with running a couple of things
Sounds like that was it then
