    1080p films, video lagging

Iv got the full set of Band of brothers in 1080p on my PC, but when i try to play it it has real problems, mainly the video stuttering badly for 5seconds-ish every 30-40seconds.

Iv got a well spec'd (well, IMO) PC and its running on VLC. Iv set the process priority to high in the task manager, and turned off EVERYTHING, inc setting the pc to 'best performance' in the control panel.

Desbite doing all of this i still get very poor video playback. Other films such as batman begins in 1080p & hitman in 1080p dont have this problem.

PC is in the 'my spec' page & its running on vista 64.

    Any recommendations?

    thanks

I use PowerDVD and never have any problems. I guess that it's more to do with software (inc. codecs) than anything hardware-wise.

VLC is awful for any form of HD. Use something that will accelerate the video (is PureVideo free yet?) and just use WMP, or something else which uses external rather than internal codecs.

    Re: 1080p films, video lagging

I suspect background processes. Likely candidates being windows auto update, AV software auto update, a virus maybe, random stuff like zango (malware), realplayer (malware-like, pretty much adware), other random tray rubbish that PCs get cluttered up with. Or your CPU is overheating and throttling back or something like that. I've seen a similar thing with a laptop running in unplgged/low power mode, which was sorted by plogging in the mains power adaptor, although yours is a desktop.

Well worth getting media player classic and the real alternative codecs though anyway on any PC. http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...lternative.htm
