    New build

hey all im new, been a lurker for abit of a while,

looking a new system for around £400-500 not including a dvd burner of hardisk i'm just gona use the ones from my old systme save some cash. so i was wondering if some of you's guys wouldnt mind running me up a preliminary build for the system

thinking along the lines of the e8400 or the q6600 for my processor

maybe a DFI LanParty DK P35-T2RS for the motherboard since the highly recomended dark raider isnt available for purchase, or a crossfire motherboard

probably just gona get 1 4850 to begin with but mite wait a week or two to see if the prices of the 4870's come down

    Re: New build

You seem to be on the right lines

    I would get,

    Q6600 + Scythe mine ~£145
    DFI P35 or asus P5K-E (or - C) or P5Q PRO ~£80
    4GB PC6400 ~£55 (2GB to get within budget)
Coolermaster CM-690 ~£60 (antec 300 to come in budget and keep 4GB)
    Corsair 520W HX ~£65
    ATi HD4850 ~£115

    Comes in around £500

    Re: New build

id agree with that, with a few changes/clarifications:
a xigmatek hdt s1283 cooler, better and cheaper £20
the p45 (p5q pro) board, for better xfire if you upgrade, and general upgradeability
antec 300, the cm690 isnt worth the extra £30,

    Re: New build

you could also save some money with the psu if need be, you could get a
    500w Seasonic S12II-500 PSU £50.
Seasonic make corsair hx series, so theres no compromise on quality, although you would need to drop your cd drive down a notch to fit your unused cables above it, cos its not modular
