hard drives
Hello,
when the maxtor hard drive died in my 7 year old hard drive i replaced it with a seagate burricuda.
i used to wonder why the computer was so noisey. turned out it was the maxtor hard drive.
soon i am going to buy a new hard drive. probaly a western digital 640gb AAK from scan.
want a fast and quiet as possible drive.
how does the noise compare to say a seagate burricuda?
i am also in the market for a esata caddy.
atm i have two maxtor 250gb internal sata 2 drives. i intend taking out one and sticking it in a esata external caddy. what one would you reccomend?
thanks in advance
lodore

Re: hard drives
AAKS is pretty much the quietest you can go. Sasmung's are an tiny bit quieter I believe but the difference wouldn't affect most people :)

Re: hard drives
I've no idea really. I would trust someone like silverstone

but that is a bit pricey.
Icy Dock seem to do some nice ones for reasonable prices.

Re: hard drives
Ive used teh Akasa caddies - kook good - and the sumvision - cheap and cheerful and do the job.

Re: hard drives
I have a couple of these (Icybox USB + eSATA), and they do the job:

Re: hard drives
I have the 500gb AAKS WD HDD and I can't hear it over my case fans (which are pretty quiet too). Very impressed. :P

Re: hard drives
You certainly won't go wrong with an IcyBox enclosure, but FWIW... my current favourite enclosures, are those made by AC Ryan
I have their 2.5", 3.5" and 5.25" enclosures ;)
