UPS and how do i plug stuff in to it
Hello,
if i was to purchase a UPS such as
APC BACK-UPS RS 800VA 230V
link
how am i ment to plug anything in?
see the back picture from the link above to see the strange sockets.
i have standard 3 pin UK plugs
i know everyone in the industry has APC UPS because they are the most reliable ones. they are as far as i know the only ones that intergrate with windows without installing software.
Re: UPS and how do i plug stuff in to it
Standard piggyback cables - I'll find you a link in a moment...
Re: UPS and how do i plug stuff in to it
The cables you refer to are C13 to C14 cables.
They are standard male-female cables and can be bought from most good suppliers.
If you remember older PSU's had a socket you could use to power your monitor, these are the same cables.
Wherever you source the UPS from should be able to supply you with the cables you need.
Re: UPS and how do i plug stuff in to it
My APC ups came with cables.

For standard hardware I use an el cheapo 4-gang (I think) Belkin power strip - one end plugs into the UPS and gives you x4 UK power plugs. I can't remember where I bought it from though. I'll try and remember when I get home to search my email for it - it came from somewhere like Ebuyer or Dabs.
Edit: I think it was from Broadbandbuyer. The part number is F6C104ukPP-A, but it looks to be discontinued now. Therefore, the solution is to take any old power socket strip, strip the wire and put on an IEC connector with screw terminals. Search eBay for: IEC C14
Re: UPS and how do i plug stuff in to it
As Jay says check the kit list with any UPS you plan to buy. You might get lucky! :)
