    Quickie hopefully

Undecided. ABit IP35 Pro or Asus P5KC motherboard? See said it was simple!

Actually, its better to go for a P45 board now unless you can get a P35 very cheap...

    Yup, agreed.

If you have to choose between the ABit IP35 Pro and P5KC, the Abit is the superior board. No question about it

    Re: Quickie hopefully

£85 for the Abit PRO on today only. I'd take that over the P45 boards. There's nothing extra special about them other than PCIe 2.0 support and nothing needs that sort of bandwidth yet.

    Re: Quickie hopefully

There are some very reasonably priced P45 boards on Scan. I just guess its going to be checking each and seeing if it has any features that he would miss.

Ideally more info is needed, such as if he's planning to overclock.

Shame there is no Abit P45 board there yet

Biggest shame was them pulling the dark raider so long before their P45 boards were on the shelves. That was great for the money.

Will need at least one eSATA connection and yes will be overclocking a Q6600. Will be doing video editing. Would the Pro XE be a better buy than just the standard Pro only thing I see it offers is bigger FSB.

    Cheers

    Re: Quickie hopefully

Of the P45 boards that I've seen reviewed, Asus P5Q, P5Q PRO, P5Q-E, & the DFI LANPARTY DK P45-T2RS, none of them were capable of hitting 500MHz FSB, their BIOS are too young, and Abit have yet to release their P45 boards.
Personally I wouldn't consider buying a P45 board just yet, wait until all the results are in with more mature BIOS.

    Re: Quickie hopefully

once i bought new board P5W Deluxe and will not do that again... asus boards having too many issues so they make couple of revisions "after testing on customers" and everything is fine. My P5W deluxe is dead waiting for RMA. got gigabyte P35 and is going smooth. don't know abit but will recommend against asus

    Re: Quickie hopefully

Back to the original post, I would go for the Abit IP35 PRO, it's tried & tested, and @ £85 is a bargin. When the Abit IP45 PRO does arrive it will cost more than 85 quid,
and it remains to be seen if P45 performance will be any better than P35 performance.

Ok lads thanks so its the Abit for me. Quite pleased in fact as had an ASUS a while back and nothing but trouble eventually got an ASROCK works fine but mother companys one was dire, even SCAN gave up on it.
