Question PC monitor messed up(help please :P)

Well i have an lg 22ls4r (native res 1680x1050). All has been fine for awhile but since i got a hd-dvd drive i was messing around in the nvidia control panel to improve contrast and to see if i can get it to go in a true hd res(im using a dvi--> hdmi cable). Cant remember what i done but i managed to screw it up that i had to reboot and couldnt use the screen(it said no signal when i get to windows laoding, so certainly software). I managed to get it back to display but setting up dual monitor(using old crt) and have eventually got it working without the need of the second monitor, this should of been the end of it but my screen now has about 1-2" of a black border much like widescreen tvs(while playing dvd) but this is all the way around so in the square. The image quality seems slightly worse and its harder to read text, so i was wondering is anyone has an idea on how to get rid of this border as its really annoying.

    Thanks for your help

    Sorry about long post .

if you messed up stuff in the Nvidia control panel, maybe un-install the forceware drivers? go back to the default windows drivers, then once its fixed, re-install forceware and dont mess next time? I dont know if this would work, but having no clue, this would be the first thing id try.

Re: PC monitor messed up(help please :P)

if ur on hdmi you need to adjust your overscan settings so the screen is filled. I have no idea where they are as i have only ever had ATI cards, but i have had the black border on my 36" hdtv, and i solved the problem this way. If these settings dont go far enough, then you might have to look for "fill panel", or some similar settings, or try changing the resolution. If all else fails, return everything to defaults, or reinstall drivers, as a last resort
