I've recently got a new build and was using a Gigabyte board with the P31 chipset.
However, there was something wrong with it as it would not boot with all of my RAM (4GB) inserted even though it claimed to support 4GB. As a result, I have had to change motherboard, which meant taking my old Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro off the old board and replacing it.
Even more recently, the temps were getting surprisingly high, even at idle and I was entering between 37-45c range...
Thinking that I'd applied to much silver grease or something (there was a bottle and a brush, I think I was a little over zealous with the novelty of this xD) I removed the HSF again. Tried to put it back however, and the little plasticy feet on the bottom of it seem damaged (D: ) and I'm now having to run on the stock cooler (which goes over the 65c threshold I set myself at load even at stock speeds D: ).
Based on a little research, and a chat with a friend, I came across the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 and Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme on Scan (I would post a link, but Hexus won't let me yet =P).
Currently favouring the Xigmatek one as it's cheaper, comes with the fan and supposedly the only difference is a few degrees.
Basically, I'm wondering what other options I could get for a reasonable amount of money, and people's personal experiences with any HSFs they recommend.
