    SN45G Stealth drives

Just got my SN45G set up recently and as I now have my new DVD Writer I decided I wanted to stealth the drive.
Firstly I dont want to hack the blanking plate so am gonna make a replacement in Shuttle stylee from perspex and aluminium effect labelling with some screw heads to get the bolt effect.
Anyone interested in seeing the results when I get it done ?
And anyone got pics of anything similar you have done ??
Been looking thru the Shuttle gallery and there arent as many picsa as I thought there would be.

    Ta,

nice... had this idea yesterday too.

just had a look whilst my shuttle is Out Of Action... awaiting work to get the 250w's in (tomorrow - yay!)

just had a look at stealthing my pioneer 107... i need to hacksaw the thread off the screws in the plate so that i can stick the front bezel to my drive and still look half decent.

I'm also considering the old hacksaw method too as the beige really isnt that nice, plus I have a fair few spare fascias from different shuttles kicking about so if i sod the hacksaw up at least I have replacements

I 'stealthed' mine the other day - surprisingly easy, even with my half arsed method and lack of tools!

    Rough neck - wow !! V. nice
    Just finished mine
Hacked the screw heads of then some super glue to the perspex - not exactly like the Shuttle plates but better than risking the originals IMHO.
Really quite difficult to get the labelling without bubbles but I managed eventually.
Looks really nice and loads better than beige !! yuk
Good thing about the Aluminium style label (vinyl) is that you can still see the activity LED's thru it when they are on but not when off
Will post pics tomorrow when I can charge batteries for my camera.
Cos I cut a strip of perspex I have also got a 2nd plate whcih I felt wasnt as good as the one I am using (some very small bubbles under the vinyl sticker) so if anyone wants it then give me a shout and its yours for the P+P (Nochex pref).

This Shuttle is a far cry from my old Cheiftec Dragon Full Tower !!!!
Now I am gonna have to find something else to hold my desk steady !! LOL

well the silver backing doesn't fall off if the screws are still in, I simple cut off the ends of each screw. Then I used double sided tape thinggy to attach the drive to the front panel, all I do now is slightly tap the bottom right hand side and the drive magically opens hehe. 5 mins work, great finish.

Might give this a try with my DVD drive, although i might investigate the old style mac G3/4 openings when it pushes the door down as the drive opens.
