two hard drives, only one showing...

I have two hard drives attached at the moment, both are found during mobo boot up and can see them both when I go to Hardware manager BUT in explorer only the one is showing up...
what can I do to get the second showing as I need access to it fairly urgently!
    cheers

    are you running xp/2003...?

what you have to do, is get into the harddrive management thigny (type diskmgmt.msc into the start-> run thing), select the harddrive, right click and 'assign drive letter..."

i found that out earlier today

    i'm running win98...
just trying as you suggested by allocating drive label/letter...-
damn, nope, it won't allow me to change either drive letters. it sees them both but options are greyed out.

...just checking for drivers on the net...

i'll be more specific - one with Win98 on is Maxtor Fireball 3, and data is on a seagate (baracuda? an old one i think...)
in device manager they come up as 'generic disk drive'...could be the cause of prob perhaps...

Have you tried booting up from DOS to see if both drives are accessible ?

Also try running FDISK to see if it can access the said drive.

Are they actually on? Many a time where something has been not plugged in correctly or properly for me
