want a new printer, any recommendations?

So i have a Lexmark X5250 at the moment, which does the job, but the ink is just too expensive, round £20 for two ink, which comes to a total of £40, and doesnt even last two months, despite not being a heavy printer! My old Lexmark z11 used to last over 6 months!

So basically I want an all in one printer which is cheap to run, inks have to be cheap and has to be good quality, budget is around the £40 mark.

Epson ink's seem really cheap only a fiver, but do they last and is the quality good?

    thanks

I'd recommend an epson, i have refillable cartridges which saves me an absolute bomb! For less than a tenner i get around 60 cartridges worth of ink, you can find refillables if you do a google search. And yes the quality is very good.. I've got an all in one RX560 that prints on CD's but it was around £100 when i got it. Haven't got a clue how much they are now but i bet you can get a standard printer for what you are asking..

I jus throw away Epson printer with compatible cartridges in it cos they dry and there was other way to clean it but did not used it for long time so if you use it a lot is ok.

I usually just print a test page out once every couple of months to keep it running at peak..

    This is a bargain

I have its younger brother the 2180 and i am generally happy with it. The ink cartridges are around the £10 mark and one seems to last me about six months of light to medium usage. Scanner works well too as does the photocopying element of it.

If you could push your budget to around £55, you'd be able to afford the excellent Canon Pixma MX300 all-in-one @ just £50.91

Whilst it's maybe £10 - £20 more expensive than many other budget makes/models... you'll almost certainly find the print quality far superior to most of them, making it well worth the little extra you're paying

You can also get cheap ink for this (~£1 per cartridge) at ink.co.uk:

I second this cannon but you may find it harder to get cheaper third party ink and usually require some modding to the cartridge. I love my i4200 and although I use genuin cartridges I only have to buy a set once a year.
