santa rosa vs core 2(budget £400 max)

Hi whats the difference between the two laptop cpu's? im looking to buy one 400 max, can anybody recommend me one?

stuff i want it to be used for are web,wifi,15.4 widescreen, office, HD 1080P Streaming/playing ability and maybe abit of gaming here and there playing old games like WOW, GW's and css.

Which company should i avoid? i already have experience with Acer and my first Acer was excellent whilst my recent one had some issues such has overheating and killing my battery TWICE

Santa Rosa is a refresh of the Centrino platform: another name for Core 2!

All CPUs these days should be fine for your needs, for gaming you might want slightly more graphics power: the new AMD platform maybe? But for £400 its really in the category of furiously shopping around for the best deal. Would try Dell since they do some extremely good deals in the low budget sector

I'd get the dell studio 15. It's £430 here http://www.dmxdimension.com/dell-uk/...rison-coupons/ but you don't get much better than that for the money.

Pentium dual so you lose a bit of cache.. but it has a nice discrete graphics card Also has an HDMI out so if you were to upgrade the DVD drive to blu ray later on, you get a blu ray player out of it

If you could actually find an AMD puma based laptop in the UK yet that would serve you very well.. but you can't.

ahh ok cool that dell sounds interesting. i wil check out more dell laptop ranges and see what they have to offer. i may look at some Acer stuff too

If you want to play those games, your decision should be driven by the graphics solution, not the CPU, IMO.
