Re: Difference between SD and SDHC Cards

SDHC are high capacity SD cards (4gb+ IIRC), some older devices cannot use them.

it's basically a newer standard sort of thing

but it's not back compat with older devices AFAIK

Yes one of the things but also as mentioned about filesystem type.
Standard SD cards are only available up to 2gb.
    SDHC start from 4gb.

You cannot read a SDHC card in older devices that only support SD.

Re: Difference between SD and SDHC Cards

ah right thanks for the help,

One thing is the Camera Spec which I imagine was written around September last year, lists max storage 8GB SDHC(not supplied), however Ive seen 16GB SDHC cards available, is it that the camera will only recognise upto 8GB, or that at the time of publication the larger 16gb ones werent available and that it will infact be able to use it all?

    cheers

Its probably because of the time it was written and only 8gb was the highest.

    I'm pretty sure it'll support 16gb.
