    Medion laptop - any good?

After searching for laptops using Centrino 2, I came across this one. It looks like it has good specs and a good price, the only thing that's making me dubious is the fact it's Medion. Is it the same as with everything else - it's cheaper because it doesn't have a name like Sony or Samsung? Or will it in fact use worse hardware and be more likely to develop problems?

It doesn't have the actual specifications, so I know it's hard to say, but generally is Medion just as good as other computers at the same level, just without the brand name?

    Cheers

Medion are a very large European (german) co. typically sold in the Uk by Aldi/Lidl.
A lot of their PC s are based on MSI mobos etc..

Thanks for the info, though seems as if it's not going to be worth it, the graphics are a bit lacking for what she wants. Doesn't seem like any of the new Centrino 2s fit her specification and all she wants is a 15.4inch, over C2D 2ghz or over, HDMI port and decent Nvidia card!

    Oh well, we'll keep searching.

Medion *spits* my gf went against my advice and bought one. Broke after a a few months, and another 6 months to get it replaced by which time they decided not to replace it and offered her £80..

Once we have threatened legal action they gave her the full refund but what a **** company!

I still think the dell studio 15 meets those needs best.

Not centrino 2 and ATi cards but you do get HDMI (audio and video I believe) and great bangs for bucks. Unless her budget is much higher I doubt you will do better.

Really? I hadn't heard that, although admittedly I don't keep up to date with anything to do with laptops. I guess it doesn't really matter if it's ATI, she just wants to be able to play Sims 3 when it comes out, which I assume will require a decent graphics card.

I would go for a DELL possibly in the Vostro range if you are looking for value for money. Keep your eye on the DELL UK website over the next month or two for Centrino 2 versions.

Dell are pretty good in my humble opinion, my dad has had his Latitude for 3 years and only had the keyboard replaced under the 3 year warranty 3 months ago and its still going strong.

If you purchase a Medion Pc From Tchibo
    the German High St. Retailer
there is a 3 Year Money back guarantee if found to be faulty,
as far as I am aware the shop itself gives this refund not the manufacturer.

Always purchase with your Visa Card,
    never cash or cheque
as if a dispute arises your powers are limited.

and believe me, I should know I have enough.
