Which is the better gaming system?
I am currently running an AMD 6400 Black edition CPU on an ASUS M3A32-MVP motherboard, with 4GB OCZ DDR2-800 ram, a 9800GTX GPU and Raptor drives.
I also have the parts to build an Intel setup comprising an ASUS P5N32-E SLI motherboard, a Q6600 (g0 stepping) CPU, 4GB OCZ DDR2-1066 ram and the same 9800GTX and Raptor drives.
I use my rig mainly for gaming and editing photos, is the Intel setup going to be faster than the AMD setup for these purposes?
thanks Jason
Re: Which is the better gaming system?
It depends how the Q6600 is clocked I suppose. Generally the quad will be faster but at stock clocks the AMD system may find slight advantages.
Re: Which is the better gaming system?
I suspect the Q6600 will overclock further. The RAM on the Intel system should overclock better too.
Also, isn't the 6400 a dual core? :S The Q6600 is a quad, so will run better in multi-threaded games, and will be better at multitasking too.

Re: Which is the better gaming system?
If you are doing a lot of multi-tasking then the quad will be better, but at stock it will probably be slightly slower then the amd 6400. If you overclock it to 3ghz it will be faster, but I dont know how good ASUS P5N32-E SLI is for overclocking.
See this article regarding cpu scaling in games-

In gaming the amd 6400 is about as powerful (or a little less) as a E6750/X6800.
