    Simple Chip (Case) Fan Problem

    Basically, my CHIP Fan is needed to be replaced. My current fan has these details written on it:

    Low Noise, Long Life Time
    DC Brushless Fan
    Model: DFS1202512M
    DC 12V 0.27A
    Seeing as I am a complete newbie, can anybody recommend me a suitable fan? Thanks.

    How big is it? They usually come in 80mm, 92mm or 120mm sizes

    See now, I have no idea.

    I guess that I will need to use my ruler! Although, I'll have to get back to you tomorrow. Thanks.

    Re: Simple Chip (Case) Fan Problem

    i'm guessing that it's 120mm due to the 120 in the model number...

    edit: from a google (a googlewhack ) one result:

    № Наименование Единица Цена Примечание

    Вентиляторы =12В

    Вентилятор DFS1202512M с подсветкой шт. 340.00 =12В, 0,12А

    which in a real language means:

    № Item Unit Price Note

    fans = 12v

    DFS1202512M fan base pieces. 340.00 = 12 V, 0.12 A

    but it doesn't actually say the size

    Nah, that is not a good way to determine the size. Let's just wait until he measures it...

    Re: Simple Chip (Case) Fan Problem

    When you say chipfan, do you mean the fan on the Northbridge, which is actually quite a small fan (no way 120mm), which is notorious for failing, or the larger fan on your CPU or case?

    If it's the former then you could get it replaced by Asus if it's still under warranty, or even try anyway - as I said these are known for failing and they might give you a new one free anyway. Otherwise I recommend looking for a silent replacement. I got one from TR, but I can't recall the model number.

    Re: Simple Chip (Case) Fan Problem

    That's a case fan. So pretty much any 120mm will replace it. Xiggies seem to be the budget recommendation of choice atm: http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=700900
