Re: opinion on build please
i'd say upgrade to 4gb ram
and maybe that graphics card instead

Re: opinion on build please
Could get away with a smaller PSU with those. HD3650 wouldn't be my choice unless the gaming was very light. Perhaps if we knew which games a solution might be easier.
Re: opinion on build please
well he mainly plays world of warcraft sometimes halo
Re: opinion on build please
Consider a 9600 graphics card maybe.
Re: opinion on build please
Thanks for the help i changed to spec to the following

4GB (4x1GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2
550w Corsair VX Series PSU
500 GB Seagate ST3500320AS Barracuda 7200

LOL, I thought you meant ATi!!! Was the best GPU of Halo's time anyway... :D
edit: Yeah it looks great, I'd go for a 640Gb HD coz they are much faster (higher density platters :)), since you won't have many cables you could consider a modular 450W Be Quiet Dark Power Pro or a 520W Corsair HX, both great PSUs.
Re: opinion on build please
lol wouldn't know wasnt really into pc gaming back then more of a console man, although pc gaming all the way now
Re: opinion on build please
Yeah its kinda wierd, Halo was pretty much my childhood but now I hardly ever touch my 360. It's PCs these days for me...
Re: opinion on build please
yeah know what you mean i have a wii and all, barely touch the thing
Re: opinion on build please
What? You haven't bought into this Wii Fit nonsense?
Re: opinion on build please
hahaha. . .no that is a total waste of money, i got titles like super smash and no more heroes
Re: opinion on build please
Back to the original question then the 9600GT can probably cope with those titles, but if you can stretch a little further the 8800GT is superior (then comes the 8800GTS, the 9800GTX, and the ATI HD4850 in order of increasing price and power).
Re: opinion on build please
uhhh dunno i think am gonna keep with the 9600gt since he does extremely light gaming on his pc
Re: opinion on build please
Yeah WoW is not demanding at all and Halo is a very old game! A 9600GT would chew through them.
A 640Gb hard drive would be much faster because they use denser platters than 500Gb drives. They're about a tenner more though.
Have you considered a small modular PSU like a 520W Corsair HX or 450W Be Quiet Dark Power Pro? You won't need many cables in that system so it would be best to take out the cables you don't need :D

I assume you've got everything else, 64bit vista, case, DVD drive, HFan, etc so I wont comment on that.
CPU - Probably best value for the purposes
RAM - Rather than 4x1GB, it'll be cheaper to get 2x2GB, unless thats what you meant ;)
PSU - Corsair are great but the 520w PSU is a better, quieter model for a little bit more (so might be worth looking at)
GFX - For wow and halo, 9600 will pith it :) If he fances getting something better any time soon, he may have to upgrade later, but should be ok til then.
*Theres a few memory warnings on the SCAN site regarding the Mobo, but its not written well (not sure whether it means Don't use 4 doublesided memory chips or Do :P, someone smarter might wanna check this out)
