    how much for this pc?

Ok its a really old pc, an 8 year old compaq, throwed the workig monitor away today cos no one wants it, but kept the base unit cos alot of it is 'new' and it still works perfectly.

    Heres the specs:

    Compaq 7464 (iirc)
    AMD K6-2 500Mhz
    Mobo no idea
    64mb ram + 256mb (that i bought for £50)
    Liteon DVD-Rom (new)
    Sony CD/RW as new
    230w psu (i think)

how much would i make if i put it on ebay seperately?

or does anyone know any good recycling centers or places that would buy/take old computers in London?

    thanks

Re: how much for this pc?

i dont think anyone on ebay is pllanning on builing a comp that will fit that cpu, and noon will buy 256mb of ram when you can get a gig for £15 of much better quality

you will be able to sell the disk drives for £10 each (if your lucky) and the PSU might fetch £10.

Your probably better selling the whole pc as ambiguously as possible. Say its an old system and you dont know the specs but say its got new disk drives that sell for £x. That way you will get at least the price of the disk drives, and you will get some money for the rest

Re: how much for this pc?

I'd salvage the Lite-On and advertise the rest in the local paper. Frankly it's so old that no-one in their right mind would buy it, and not having a monitor makes it even more unattractive (why did you throw it away?). Otherwise a car boot sale is always good for a few £s - I was surprised at how much of my (very) old spares went when I had one a couple of years back.

Re: how much for this pc?

Throwed the monitor away cos I didnt want lug it back home again and it takes up alot of space, so got fed up and decided to chuck it away since it aint worth much.

Do you think I should just send it to some recyclying charity firm or something? Can't see getting much out of it now.

Also why do you say I shoud keep the liteon?

Re: how much for this pc?

Well the Lite-on is a DVD drive, so it's worth re-using IMO. I suggested the local paper because ads are usually free, so you lose nothing by trying.

Re: how much for this pc?

I seriously doubt anyone would give more than £10.

If i were you, i would donate it to a local charity.

(i wasnt being sarcastic.......just trying not to give you any false hope)
