    Which wireless router????

I've currently got a Belkin Mino router and I've come to the conclusion that its pants. I live in a shared house and not all of us can connect to the internet. Two people have no trouble at all and the rest all struggle. It seems to connect to the signal perfectly but never recognises the IP address. This makes the connection very sporadic and very frustrating! It also seems that it works fine on Intel Celeron processors but not on Centrino or Duo Core.

Now looking for a new router that will allow up to 4 different IP addresses to connect to it. Any suggestions would be really helpful.

is anyone in the house using a static IP address?
if yes, has the static IP address been configured to lie outside the DHCP pool?

    Re: Which wireless router????

Ive had the misfortune of trying to setup Belkin routers for my friends and i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.
I am currently runing a Linksys WRT54GS with upgraded DD-WRT firmware and its awesome. You can unpack it and have it up and running in about 10mins. It has held on to its price for ages at around £40, well worth it!

    Re: Which wireless router????

Just bought a couple of Netgear DG834G routers for about £38/ each. They do the job for most people's needs but I appreciate it's nothing spectacular. Reliable and good value for money.

Linksys would be a good bet as well. In fact I have a shrink-wrapped WAG300N-UK I'd like to get rid of if you're interested.

I also have a Linksys - the WAG354G - which has worked flawlessly for 3 years. If I were buying now though, I'd get the WRT54GS, mentioned by aidso. Lambdatek have it for under £35: http://www.lambda-tek.com/components...&prodID=945719

Check out the buffalo range, they have very good wireless performance, I have a netgear myself and it was very fussy at the begiining but has settled down now.

    Re: Which wireless router????

I had netgear D834GT and it was useless it was loosing signal very often and couldn’t easily connect to dsl. Their customer support is in India, so after 5 calls they send me reconditioned router with same problem. I bought Linksys WAG200G which is superb with no problems. Recommend.

I've only had to physically reboot my Linksys twice in 3 years, so that's not so good IMO.

    Re: Which wireless router????

My old Netgear DG834G stayed up for a full year, straight, with no disconnections at all. It's a solid router, and if I wasn't looking for a more complex routing solution I would have stuck with it for many more years than the 4 years I owned it.

I've Had the DG834G for about 2 years and i can say its a solid router and never had any problems with it at all.

However its not good for Xbox live it doesn't seem to like 2 Xbox's being connected to the same router and really hampers the xbox live connection.
