    5.1 surround

I just built my new computer, see my computer, and have installed windows vista home premium 32 bit, with on board sound, but sound only comes out of the front three speackers, not the rear ones, unless I click test speackers???? I have tried several different sound files, and programs, yet it still wont play out of all chanels??

    Re: 5.1 surround

    Hi
I havent got vista but heard that this is a problem a few others have too due to the changes in Vista compared to XP.

    Theres a workaround tho:
Control Panel -> Sound (just the windows one, not your sound card's one) -> Highlight the speaker output you are using (ie. speakers or digital output) -> Properties -> Enhancements (one of the tabs up the top) -> Here there are all sorts of interesting options but the main one is in the window with the scroll bar and is called Speaker Fill. Just tick then apply and crank your volume coz you should have sound from all speakers.

Let me know if it works.
