Re: Budget PC, recommendations wanted.
What is the advantages of having single platter? or dual platter?
Or is this just a "It's a new thing. Must be good" buying technique for single platter?
And like people have been saying all along, the bigger the HDD the better value it gets (till you get ridiculously big...)
Re: Budget PC, recommendations wanted.
320GB are the most dense platters available right now, simply makes them the fastest.
A dual platter 320GB uses two 160's (obviously) which aren't as quick.
Re: Budget PC, recommendations wanted.
Ahh.. so it's a matter of speed.
And one of the all famous e-penis of course :P
Is the difference in speed huge? What does the speed difference actually mean in real life?
Re: Budget PC, recommendations wanted.
Well not really to do with epeen, they cost the same money you simply get better performance.
I suppose the difference depends on how HDD intensive your tasks are. Games will load quicker, windows will boot quicker etc..
Re: Budget PC, recommendations wanted.
A 320Gb platter can access twice the amount of data each revolution as a 160Gb platter. Therefore a 160Gb platter has to spin at twice the speed to achieve the same performance. The difference will be very percievable in real life :)
Re: Budget PC, recommendations wanted.
ahh.. mesees..
Okay.. thanks :)
