Is the AMD Stock cooler that comes with the 8450 Tri-Core Phenom any good?
Having spent £5 on a cooler for my old BE 5000+ I now am wondering whether or not the Phenom one is better...
Anyone know the answer?

I guess we're expected to do quite wellOriginally Posted by Fortune117
You could always get a Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 pro they are dirt cheap and will keep your temps lower even if you aren't going to overclock and give you the option to OC later if you decide to do so.
Its a great budget cooler at £12.97 from scan, i use one and have never had any problems with temps, it keeps my cpu at under 50 degrees under load.
I suppose the quickest way of finding out is to test them?

Yeah, but I have one already, and the OEM cooler is quite impressive, copper base, heat pipes, thin fins, 80cm PWM controlled fan. Although I didn't use it, the design is adequate from observation and should easily keep the temperature below 60W at all times.
