    CPU problem

    yet again i have ANOTHER problem with this damn computer.....

    i get all the parts.....

    fit them.....

    HD4850...

    4gb of ram;....

    asus p5q motherboard

    theni take my old CPU out of my last computer and realise....that...

    Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz 3000 MHz

    i dont have a clue if this will run on the motherboard i have.....but i dont have anymore money to buy an upgrade......

    help hexus people!

    Is it socket 775 or 478? Even if its not compatible, you can get a better cpu for £20 anyway

    It is easy! except you have bought a S775 mobo, and it looks like your CPU isn't! Difficult for us to work out whether it will fit without you saying more about the CPU than you have!
    Gonzo's hit the nail on the head. Does the processor fit into the mobo socket. If it doesn't, then your banjaxxed and will have to buy a new CPU.

    If it does, fire up the PC and give it a whirl.

    If you can't be bothered, check the processor code with the Intel website, then cross-check that processor with the mobo website for compatibility.

    just fitted it to the computer im usin now.....

    i'll donwload cpu-z and give it a check over....i'll get back to you.....

    ermmm... well if you can load windows and cpuz then isnt it working already lol...

    Without a decent processor, you wasted your money on all that stuff as it probably performs worse than my socket 939 system
