    Case / Gfx

    Hi,
I'm stuggling to decide on a case. I absolutely love the look and design of the Antec 900, but don't know whether the graphics card I want to get is going to fit in it.

The card I'm going to get : http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=849684
    Antec 900: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118268

    Re: Case / Gfx

I didn't really want a full-tower case, but I must admit that the Antec 1200 looks even better. Its more expensive.. but it is slightly deeper.

Would this fit the card I want to get better ?

    Re: Case / Gfx

I am not sure. It is a bit bigger.

I have the 900, and an ATI HD4850, which has about 4/5cm from the end of the card to the drive bay, if that helps.

27cm aprox from the back of the case to the drives...how long is the 9800

    Re: Case / Gfx

Would you recommend the ATi HD4850 over the 9800GTX+ ?

Also, is it a relatively easy take to switch the stock heatsink for a 3rd party one ?

    It's me again..

I've decided to, in light of me not having had a big upgrade in over a year, to go for a dual GPU rig instead. I'm going to be getting the components ect.. in a few months when the money is available for it. Any suggestions ?

How about one HD4870, or even two. Better than the HD4850 for about £50 more.

If you got one now, then you could see how it goes, and if in a year or you found it slowing down, get a second.

Not sure how much of a benifit it is, but that is what i thought i could do with mine possibly, twin a HD4870 with my HD4850 in one/two years time.

If your waiting months for the money to come in.. ask then lol

SLi boards are a bit of a compomise on all your other components so best to stick with intel boards and crossfire.

I'm assuming your getting a new monitor too because on a 17" screen any of these single cards mentioned are a bit of an overkill anyway.

17" I did not see that. A single HD 4850 would give you ample power to play almost all games at max (not crisis and a couple of others though). It powers my 22" at max settings for everything I have thrown at it yet

Hehe. It was supposed to be car money, but I don't plan on getting a car until christmas, so I can make the sacrifice.

Also, do the HD4870's have exhausts ?

    Re: Case / Gfx

Just got the new issue of Custom PC, and as I tend to trust Hexus and CPC for reviews, I didn't really believe the other sites when they said that the ATi cards performed much better (4850 vs 9800, 4870 vs 260 etc...) especially when Hexus said that the nVidia cards actually performed better. Now though I'm fairly convinced that Hexus is the exception: in this issue, CPC (which said that the nVidia cards performed better on their preliminary look online) says that the ATi cards beats the nVidia equivalents at every price point. This seems to correlate with other sites benchmarks where the 4850 beat the 9800 and the 4870 beat the 260.

Yes they do have rear exhausts, so your system temp shouldnt be effected

    Phew!

    Card : http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146429/

Its only 22", but the 24" ones are a rip-off.
