Arctic Pro Freezer 7 vs TRUE

What is the difference in size between these two... will the TRUE fit in my CoolerMaster BlackWidow (Cooler Master ATC-201B)

    Thanks.

Re: Arctic Pro Freezer 7 vs TRUE

the TRUE is basically the size of a 120mm fan with a little extra (about 4cm) underneath, bgut it is quite a bit bigger than the ACF7pro

so it's very easy to measure as to whether it fits... just grab a 120mm fan and hold it 4cm off the proccy... if the sidepanel would have enough room to go on then it fits

the TRUE is a very good cooler though (made a different of 14c idle for me )

At what point do you think these manufacturers think a heatsink is too big or heavy....

If they want to be really clever, why not make a heatsink that is small and quiet and light.
Stop throwing more heatpipes, biggers fans and more fins... Soon there will be one huge heat
sink to cover your whole motherboard with 4 120mm fans.... Come on, lets invent something new!!!

Re: Arctic Pro Freezer 7 vs TRUE

only 4 x 120mm fans, thats not very many. I have 9 x 80mm in my case all powered direct off the PSU (hardcano broke) its noisy.. very noisy.. 850watt RMS soon sorts it though, cant hear fans over that..

anyways, its not as many fans as this case...

"why not make a heatsink that is small and quiet and light."
assuming that we are talking air & not incl. water cooling etc. because it wouldn't dissipate the amount of heat being chucked out by overclocked quads etc.

Zalman did a case as well iirc that was used as an emitter/hs.

Holy. Crap. That thing would sound like a small propeller plane. O_o

To the topic at hand...my Arctic Cooler Pro 7 works wonders, but I've never used the other, but the ACP7 is pretty good size on its own (I barely got it in my case, and my Smilodon isn't exactly small either); I figure that other one would be too big for all but the biggest cases. ^_^

Re: Arctic Pro Freezer 7 vs TRUE

It's all to do with case width and layout. Most modern mid towers will fit it OK. And the reason people make these HSFs is that they work.

Bigger means better when it comes to cooling, and weight just goes hand in hand with size.

Re: Arctic Pro Freezer 7 vs TRUE

It doesn't fit in my case

When i try to put the side of the case back on, the cooler sticks out about a centimetre or so

On the upside, it is an excellent cooler -

that's with a sharkoon silent eagle spinning at just under 1000rpm.

Not OC'd yet, but i'll tinker about soon enough

As for the size of the cooler, I'm thinking I'll get some risers and push the window of my case out by enough to fit the HSF ok. Then maybe rip some tights up into strips or get some noise proofing foam and tape it somehow around the gap....

did you measure it before hand? and have you got any smaller motherboard risers? (might just be ablke to get it to fit...)or cut a neat hole in the side panel so that the cooler protrudes
