Pentium M Processors

What r they, what do they do. How good are they?

They're low power consumption low running temp processors with a large cache (1MB L2) primarily found in Centrino (or Centrino-like)laptops. Clock speeds run to 1.7GHz (currently, I think), but don't judge them by that - they get a heck of a lot of work done per clock cycle, easily pacing P4s running at a gig faster. They're expensive, comparatively, but there are manufacturers bringing out non-laptop boards for them for special applications (server blades, mini-itx etc) Commell and Lippert being the initial manufacturers to market:

wow, cheers for that, Im ordering a Dell 8600 1.7 with ATI 9600 pro Turbo...Should be fun, my desktop doesnt have legs you see...

lol, funny you should mention this, had someone moaning the company lappys were going to go from PIII to P4 1.7M's and they said typical crap being handed out as usual, oh please they got some advice from me on it, the M's are really quick lol

If they are P4-M then they are crap. The decent one is just known as the Pentium-M.
