I recently purchased a £10 soundcard with SPDIF for my computer, but it seems that the Linux drivers are shaky at decoding optical sound from the PS3.

The solution seems to be an external soundcard, especially since I wouldn't have to worry about poking around at the software or swapping over cables etc.

I'm looking for something that's compatible with my Creative 5.1 speakers, preferably with a couple of SPDIF inputs and a couple of jack/phonos, but I'm really not sure how to spot a good card.

Ideally I'd like to be able to plug in the Wii, PC, PS3 and 360 to the same soundcard and hear them in delicious 5.1.
