    Which Sound Card?

    Hi all

my mate is currently looking to purchase a new sound card for his rig...but while trying to help him choose im bit confused as which one to recommend him.

His main use for it is games

I highly recommended the Asus Xonor but this is a little out of his budget.

    His budget is around £60-70

    Thanks in advance

I recommend the ASUS Xonar DX, it's a great card for everything, under £60 too.

Thank you didnt know they had a cheaper version.

What are the differences between them?

Anything major that will compromise sound quality.

Is this card better than an equivalent X-FI?

    Re: Which Sound Card?

It does everything the X-Fi does including perfect EAX emulation (is that the right word?) and without the driver issues! It's been very well received by reviewers.

    Re: Which Sound Card?

    +1 for the Asus Xonar

After apprehensively switching my X-Fi for one (fully expecting the Xonar to end up being moved to my second machine) I could not go back.

No hassle, no fuss, great sound quality.
