    scan has the 1TB samsung spinpoint with free fan for £83, so along with the esata icybox which comes with esata cable (mine just arrived today, neat tidy solid and as small as you could expect) you can get a 1TB esata fast external solid harddrive. you would find it hard to beat that

    As for a drive being on all the time: I have left a 500GB Samsung in my AKASA running for over a week in a stretch without a problem. I use it as a temporary drive to rip and download to from my ols laptop.
    Hi Funkstar , we have tested the Samsung 1T drive with out issue in all of our sata based enclosures .
    No problems with heat - that why we use alumiumium chassis .
