    Maxtor Basics Hard Drive

Can anyone tell me whether this hard drive has an IDE or SATA drive inside?

well that ext drive isn't even listed on maxtor's site, but they have internal kits called basics though. the only prob is that drive u have linked to has two flavours ATA100 and SATA2, now my bet is that it'd be one of them two in a generic maxtor enclosure.

the only way to find out would be to pop down and have a look at one.

Problem is it doesn't usually say on the outside of the box, so you generally have to open it up and break the warranty seal to find out

right from googling a little bit i found the ref number for that drive (at least i'm sure it's the right one ), anyway if you google that ref no: it comes up with a mixture of seagate and maxtor pages.

now one of the links says it a saegate drive (even though the pic looks like it's a maxtor) and it's a sata-usb drive and the other says it's a maxtor and it to is a sata-usb drive.

i would say that both of them can't be wrong so at least one is right, so on the scale of probability it is a sata-usb drive although i can't be 100%.
