Asus rampage formula and tuniq Tower

    Hello all,

Just a quick question as I am a little concerned due to reading some reviews on the Asus rampage formula board where they say that the area around the CPU is a little cluttered and they have reported having trouble getting some coolers to fit.

i have this board coming http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...70&modelmenu=1

and this is the cooler i am concerned with http://www.tuniq.com.tw/Cooler%20Info/Tower-120.htm

Anyone out there in the HEXUS Community got this set up or has anyone tried this out and failed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

looking at it i would say it should fit... I have the tuniq on a striker extreme which, from the pic of your motherboard on the asus site, is a lot more crowded than the rampage

Bear in mind that the tuniq is slim at the bottom so it should fit... bit difficult to screw in though when it is so crowded as i found out after slicing my hands up on it lol

Man, I'm crap at terminology but dont those little metal blue things on the board stick up like a centimeter or something? The rampage certainly looks more 'busy' than the Striker.

Cheers for the quick replies guys!

Not too worried about slicing my hands......got someone else to do the dirty work!

The Tower does look like it goes up a fair bit before it gets wide so i got my unsliced fingers crossed it will fit.

In that review there is a picture of the stock intel cooler sitting pretty much flush with those chipset heatsinks so laterally I don't think there is a lot of clearance on this board. It doesn't look like the chipset heatsinks are taller than 5cm though (couldn't find a measurement anywhere) and the Tuniq has a narrow base up until a height of about 5cm according to the manufacturers info. Should be ok.

Hmm looks like this guy was having trouble with his Tuniq tower.

Lookin at the close up photos it looks a little tight!

Seen another post on the Asus forums that recommends grinding the bracket "Lumps" off.

Was hoping i wouldnt have to butcher anything to get it to fit
