    Ram with overclocked pc question

    Hey guys, i signed up a while ago intending to be a regular but work seemed to take over lol. New job now though so hoping to post alot more now

    First of all i have a, what i imagine is a pretty simple question but i want to be sure before i do anything.

    I brought a pre-built comp about 12 months ago from overclockers. Pretty much the same as this one; https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...odid=FS-048-OK except for the hdd and ram being of a different make but essentialy still the same. About a week ago i got the wonderfull BSoD, after playing around for a bit found out 1 of my RAM chips and decided to blow up. Its a crucial.com Ballistix Tracer chip.

    Anyways after that long winded explanation, im thinking of buying 2 x 1gb chips but iv been told that it will it reduce the overclock to 3 GHz and i wont really see any benefit. Any truth in this? Would it be worth it or should i just save abit more money and buy 2 x 2gb chips?

    Thanks for any help

    BTW: This is the memory im looking at: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...KIT12864AL1065)

    Ballistix has a lifetime warranty, you can either send it back to crucial direct, or send it back to overcockers.

    The new ballistix are no different from any single sided cheaper priced memory, so you would be better off buying a 2x2GB kit for slightly less than that 2x1gb tracer kit and then selling the replacement on fleabay.

    And, no, it's not true that your overclock will drop to 3Ghz because of using 4x1GB.

    Re: Ram with overclocked pc question

    Hey guys, thanks for all your help.

    I ended up getting 2x1gb of the same ballistix stuff, purely because i got a very good price on it.

    Only questions i have now is;

    1. On my system Information it shows i have: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.40 GHz. Unless im mistaken the final value showed 3.30GHz to show it was overclocked. Am i wrong or have the overclock been taken away?

    2. When i did Performance Test through Vista the memory(RAM) figure fell from 5.7 to 5.6 from before all this happened. Down to overclock going or do the test just vary?

    Again, any help is very much appreciated.
