    Which DDR2 Voltage?

    hello,

I am using two 2 GB pairs of Corsair Dominator DDR21066 memory.

From what I've read, the early revisions of this memory use 2.2V. However, the later ones use 2.1V. Upon inspection of my memory, I can see that one pair has "v1.x" (I can't remember exactly what it is) printed on it, whilst the other has "v4.x". So I'm guessing one pair needs 2.2V, and the other 2.1V.

Which voltage should I use then?

Also, using 4 sticks, I can't run the memory above 850MHz. Which voltage should I use for that?

    Thanks!

    Re: Which DDR2 Voltage?

    Hi AD-15

    Interesting.

I would personally choose 2.2volts. But please check the Corsair website for your exact modules of ram as i would not want you to ruin your warranty.

With the hold back @ 850mhz , I believe your timings for the memory must be wrong. Systems often default them with stock voltage but in most cases this either makes the system un stable or runs the ram at low performance. I see many users using 4GB DDR2 6400 and getting 5.5 vista score. It should be 5.9 easy.

So again while checking the Corsair website check the ram timings and the voltage. Be sure they are the same you have then apply these in the BIOS.

With some luck this should help.

    Re: Which DDR2 Voltage?

The 2.2v sticks will probably be Micron D9 based and that's why they require a bit more voltage to run at their rated speed, but quite often they will run at much lower voltage without any problems.

If you nip over to the Corsair section of the house of help forums, there is a thread to identify the ICs on RAM modules by serial number/part number/version etc.

It's better to use 2.1v for all than use 2.2v in the non Micron sticks.
