using different brands of memory on same motherboard

does using different brands of memory on same motherboard cause any problems or performance issues? I ask this as I already have 512mb of 2700 ram(I have an Abit AT7(333mhz) board) and want to get another 512mb but wonder if I have to get the same brand(I currently have 512mb of corsair).

Are there also any problems using different speeds of ram ie 3200 together?(apart from not getting best of 3200 ram on a 333mhz board)

2 x Corsair sticks is going to perform better than one Corsair and one other.. i doubt it will be a big difference, but it will work fine.

Im running 1 x PQI and 1 x twinmos in dual channel PC3200 and both can get to 235mhz with out a sweat

generally its better to match memory, they are more likely to have the same (in)tolerances. Mixing memory means you are probably going to get a slightly lower overclock, and are running twice the risk of incompatibility...

then again, it may make absolutely no difference, depends how lucky you are.

Unless he's overclocking, it wont.

And whens the last time you guys had memory compatibility with RAM brands ?.
Ive only had this issue once while using some generic POS. any branded RAM shouldnt have problems. If it does, get the latest BIOS for your board - if it carrys on, RMA the memory.
